Utah Jazz vs New York Knicks NBA match analysis, predictions and odds

The Utah Jazz (10-5) host the New York Knicks (6-7) at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Tuesday.

The Jazz enter the contest up in third place in the Western Conference after winning 10 of their opening 15 regular season games, while the Knicks are below .500 and hold the 10th and final Play-In Tournament seed in the Eastern Conference.

This will be the first of two matchups in this series. The Jazz go into it determined to snatch a sixth straight home win and a fourth victory in a row against the Knicks, who have struggled for consistency all season.

Form Utah Jazz

The Jazz crashed to a second straight road defeat on Sunday by losing 105-98 to the Philadelphia 76ers, leaving them 6-4 in the past 10 games. That said, they are an impressive 5-0 at home this season.

The Jazz are also going strong on both ends of the floor. The hosts rank fifth in terms of points scored this season, shooting 43.0% from the field for 116.9 points per game, and 14th in points allowed after holding their opponents to 47% shooting and 112.7 points on average.

Form New York Knicks

A 145-135 home loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday was the Knicks’ second defeat in three games, leaving the visitors 4-6 in their past 10 matches.

The Knicks have the 12th-best average points tally for this season after shooting 45.5% from the field for 114.7 points per game. On the defensive side of the floor, however, they’ve only been able to hold their opponents to 116.8 points on average, which is the sixth-worst record in the league.

The Jazz won by 15 points in a 108-93 road victory over the Knicks in the last matchup between these teams in March 2022 at Madison Square Garden. It was their third straight win in this series, leaving them with an overall 7-3 record from the past 10 meetings.

Last season, the Jazz swept the two-game series by taking victory both at home and on the road. They also finished 2-0 ATS, while the total went under in both matchups.

Take the Utah Jazz (-185).

The Jazz are a formidable outfit at the Vivint Smart Home Arena. They are 5-0 in their home games for this season and have won seven of their past eight home encounters with the Knicks, who are 2-8 in their last 10 matches against teams from the Northwest Division.

Back the Utah Jazz (-110) to cover the spread.

The Jazz enter the contest as the 4.5-point favorites and are more trustworthy than the Knicks for the spread. After all, the hosts are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games alone. They are also 3-0 ATS in the previous three matchups in this series and rank fifth in the league’s offensive rating, as well as ninth in the defensive rating.

Take the Over (-110).

Offensively, both teams are going strong at the moment. The Jazz have scored 116.9 points per game, while the Knicks have managed an average of 114.7 points for this season. This has us leaning toward the over in this encounter, especially as four of Utah’s last six games have gone over.
